I grew up surrounded by art, taking Saturday classes throughout my youth at the Toledo Museum of Art, and continuing my education there through college. When I moved to Nashville, I found a wonderful new community of creative people; writers, musicians, and visual artists.
I spend nearly 200 days a year working on the road in the music business, and because I can’t bring my canvases along, I have also taken up photography as a creative outlet and painting inspiration.. I find as much beauty and interest in graffiti or the grit of a run down building as I do in a famous landmark or beautiful sunset.
Abstract has become my favorite style of painting. I feel it is my creative process at its most authentic, working through the process of pure feeling, movement and expression until the painting reveals itself. My work is intuitive, colorful, layered, and textural. I believe traveling as I do so often has given me this feeling of freedom to explore on canvas as I’ve done around the world.
It is my opinion that a true artist, regardless of age or experience, is never finished learning.
